OVERVIEW
Defence needs to replace the existing Logistics Commodities and Services Transformation (LCST) contract in 2028.
LCST provides the sourcing and procurement for ~70K NATO Stock Numbers (NSNs)1 e.g. medical supplies and clothing. It also provides the warehousing and distribution for a much higher proportion of the total Defence inventory (over 207k NSNs). Replacing it has been highlighted by capability reports2,3 as the highest priority across Joint Support Enablers to avoid a capability cliff edge.
Future Defence Support Services (FDSS) seeks to address the limitations of the current contract by increasing scope to achieve greater economies of scale and Category Management (CatMan) benefits which can be re-invested into enhanced resilience, agility, and scalability, that better support the latest Defence Planning Assumptions (DPAs).
