Our defence sector client is currently recruiting SC cleared Safety Engineers for initial 6 month contracts. The contracts offer a hybrid working arrangement of 2-3 days onsite in Bristol and the remainder working from home.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development and maintenance of policy and process to satisfy the corporate standards for Acquisition Safety.
  • Develops, manages and maintains effective Safety Management Systems. Identifies and analyses hazards and contributes to the identification and evaluation of risk reduction measures, ensuring that these are adequately documented and managed.
  • Work with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance with relevant UK and EU legislation and regulations, MOD regulations and Policy.
  • Develops and maintains project safety assurance plans, monitors compliance and ensures that safety assurance evidence is gathered and assessed for safety case preparation.
  • Produces, reviews, endorses and recommends acceptance of safety artefacts.
  • Oversees the management of contractual aspects to ensure safety requirements are captured and the management of contractors who perform safety activities.
  • Provides informed safety advice to decision makers through Project Safety Panels.

EXPERIENCE

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineering professional affiliation or has demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Practitioner status in System Safety practices.
  • Member of a relevant Professional Safety Institute or equivalent body.
  • Extensive experience in the use of ASEMS and System Safety Management Tools & Processes.
  • Substantial experience in a system safety role and experience of developing a Safety Management System.
  • Knowledge acquired through recognised System Safety courses with benchmarked examination.
  • A minimum of Level 4 NQF in a relevant engineering discipline.

ILLUSTRATIVE ASSIGNMENTS

  • System Safety Advisor working in single or multiple project areas.
  • Systems Safety Advisor developing policy, process, tools and techniques in a corporate or domain central Safety team.
  • System Safety Advisor / auditor working across multiple delivery and domain areas.
