ITS-SED requires a Safety Manager that is able to act as a ‘controlling’ mind in advising Senior Safety accountable and responsible personnel on delivery of safety programmes and artefacts. You will work within an ITS-SED multi-discipline Acquisition Safety and Environmental Protection (ASEP) team.  Operating as an effective MOD safety and / or environmental protection manager or providing support to safety and environmental protection activities (i.e. the implementation of POSMS and POEMS, compliance with applicable military regulation and defence standards, DE&S aspects of the management of in-service capability); Initially deployed a WOC based DT (Potentially DGM or LMAS)

TASKS

The Safety Manager will be required to:

  • Deliver against the overarching programme and established safety management plan.
  • Evolve and advise the safety programme to de-risk delivery and capitalise on opportunities.
  • Work for assigned delivery teams to produce safety and environmental artefacts to time and quality requirements
  • The Safety Manager shall advise the DT to ensure the programme will deliver artefacts to demonstrate that policy, legislation and defence regulation have been met and that assets are demonstrably safe.
  • The Safety Manager shall be the DT focal point.  As a result, will be required to represent the DT at required safety engagements, including regulatory interface, and have the ability to brief up and down.
  • The Safety Manager will be responsible for the day to day activity, delivering against agreed activity and tasks.

EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

  • Weapons safety management
  • Experienced in OME Safety
  • The WOC requires a Safety Manager that is able to lead on the safety aspects of the programme and is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of safety artefacts.
  • Practitioner level experience of DE&S safety management systems and processes (POSMS).
  • Practitioner level experience of leading safety management tasks in DE&S.
  • Practitioner level experience (Plan creation and update) of:
    • Safety and Environmental Management Plans.
    • Safety Case / A Safety Case Report.
    • Hazard Logs
    • Hazard identification and assessment.
    • Operation of safety review meetings.

DESIRABLE

  • Working with Weapons Operating Centre (WOC)
