Support Vehicles Mechanical Engineer - SC Cleared

SUMMARY

 

The Support Vehicle team is looking to bring into their team of 15 an experienced Mechanical Engineer.

 

The role will be based out of Bristol on a hybrid basis but please note that there will be a need to visit organisations in Coventry, potentially on a fortnightly basis.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • At Project initiation – To conduct a review of:
    • SRO/Accountable Person’s (AP) Safety Strategy
    • Project Requirement (including Safety Requirements)
    • Project Plan/Project Management Plan
    • Base vehicle configurations
    • Project deliverables.
  • Review base vehicle existing Safety Case Report, Hazard Log and LCA
    • Conduct Hazard Log Working Group (HLWG) to confirm equipment position for SSR and SRO/AP
  • Review equipment safety cases (for integrated equipment (where available))
  • Attend project kick off meeting with prime contractor
  • Attend design reviews representing the delivery agent (DE&S) 
  • Attend trials representing the delivery agent (DE&S) 
  • Attend Critical Design Review and agree Design Freeze as Lead Engineer for delivery agent (DE&S) 
  • Review Contractor Safety Assurance Statement
  • Lead DT Configuration Change process
    • Conduct DT Configuration Change Committee meeting
  • Carry out HLWG’s for integrated platform configuration
  • Support Safety Case Report update for modified equipment
  • Prepare and delivery Equipment DLOD safety panel to SSR
  • Support pan DLOD AP Safety Panel.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

ESSENTIAL

 

  • Have wide ranging depth and breadth experience of providing technical advice and delivery of successful Mechanical or Mechatronic outcomes within the Maritime domain; and
  • Demonstrate experience of providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful Mechanical or Mechatronic outcomes within the Maritime domain; and

 

DESIRABLE

 

  • Hold a Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics based qualification at RQF Level 4; and
  • With a relevant Professional body/institution related to your discipline, be professionally registered as either:
    • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or
    • Registered Scientist (RSci) or
    • Incorporated Marine Engineer (IMarEng).
  • Wheeled vehicle experience.
