Are you an experienced Safety Engineer with experience of military vehicle projects? Evodia Limited is working on behalf of our esteemed Defence client to find a dedicated Safety Engineer to join their Support Vehicle team in Bristol. This is an exciting contract opportunity that offers a mix of remote and on-site work, with the potential for long-term extension.
About the Role
As a Support Vehicle Safety Engineer, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety integrity of military support vehicles. You’ll be working within a dynamic team led by a Senior Operational Manager, supporting projects from inception through to delivery and beyond. Your expertise will help develop and review Safety Management Systems, Hazard Logs, and Safety Cases, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and best practices.
Location & Working Arrangements
This role is based in Bristol, with a requirement to be onsite for up to 1 day per week. The rest of your time can be spent working remotely.
Contract Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Duration: Until 30 June 2026, with scope for extension
- Day Rate: Up to £570 (Inside IR35, ex VAT)
- Security Clearance: SC minimum
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in system safety within military vehicle environments, along with a strong background in safety management system development. Specific requirements include:
- A Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineering membership (CEng, IEng) or equivalent knowledge & experience
- Practitioner status in system safety practices
- Proficiency with ASEMS and System Safety Management tools & processes
- Hands-on experience in developing Safety Management Systems with military vehicles, ideally support vehicles
- Experience reviewing Safety Cases, Hazard Logs, and conducting risk assessments in complex projects
Desirable qualifications include formal safety case writing, chairing hazard review meetings, and familiarity with DEF STAN 00-056 standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review Safety Strategies, Safety Requirements, and Project Plans
- Lead safety reviews of vehicle configurations and safety cases
- Attend design reviews and trials as the delivery agent’s representative
- Support Safety Case Updates, including integrated equipment safety cases
- Lead Configuration Change processes and safety panels
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring safety assurance is maintained throughout the project lifecycle
