Senior Signatures Engineer - SC cleared

Are you an experienced Signatures Engineer with a background in high-speed craft design and development? Evodia Limited is partnering with a leading Defence organisation to find a Senior Signatures Engineer, SC cleared, to support cutting-edge Littoral Strike Group capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity based in Bristol, offering a hybrid work model with at least one day onsite each week. The contract will be for 68 days effort in the period 20/05/2026 to 31/03/2027. 

About the Role

In this role, you'll be instrumental in re-establishing signatures assessment strategies for future Surface Manoeuvre (SurfM) craft and supporting innovative hybrid navy solutions. Your technical expertise will help drive understanding of vessel signatures’ impact on Littoral Strike missions, feeding valuable insights into wargaming and concept development. The position involves conducting qualitative signatures evaluations across a range of vessels, including high-speed craft, and supporting the development of future concepts to enhance maritime force projection.

What You'll Do

  • Support in re-establishing prioritisation, strategy, and evidence for the SurfM portfolio, focusing on signatures SME support to test assumptions and inform vessel design criteria.
  • Conduct qualitative signatures assessments related to radar, infrared, magnetic, and acoustic characteristics, aligning with operational and design constraints.
  • Help develop future vessel capability requirements and perform options assessments based on high-level specifications, varying vessel characteristics to evaluate performance within operational constraints.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of concepts for a hybrid navy, including surface, subsurface, crewed, and uncrewed platforms, including signature reduction strategies.
  • Produce high-quality reports clearly communicating technical evaluations, findings, and recommendations to project sponsors and stakeholders.

About You

  • Relevant engineering degree at bachelor level or higher.
  • At least 5 years’ professional experience in a relevant engineering discipline, with a minimum of 2 years in high-speed craft signatures assessment or management.
  • Minimum of 4 years' demonstrable experience in high-speed craft design and development, with recent experience on marine vehicle specifications or requirements.
  • Being SC cleared is essential for this role.

Desirable Skills

  • Understanding of UK maritime industries and defence operations.
  • Experience in signature modelling, computational analysis, or warship signature analysis.
  • Experience with CIC or landing craft studies and pre-concept engineering.
  • Proven ability to produce clear, well-structured reports under tight deadlines.

Contract Details

This contract runs from 20 May 2026 to 31 March 2027, for 68 days. The daily rate ranges from £550 to £650 per day (inside IR35). This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to some of the most innovative projects in maritime defence, working closely with a highly regarded SME within the client organisation.
