Senior Electronic Systems & Sensors Engineer - SC or DV cleared

Are you an experienced Electronic or Systems Engineer with a background in Sensors, Navigation, or related fields? Our client, a leading Defence organisation based in Bristol, is looking for a Contract Senior Electronic Systems & Sensors Engineer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge PNT (Position, Navigation & Timing) projects with a recognised industry leader.

Working on a hybrid basis, you'll be based in Bristol with the flexibility of 2 to 3 days per week onsite, supporting the delivery of defined electronic and mechatronic outcomes within a vital Defence programme. The contract is initially until March 2027, with the potential for long term extension. The role offers a day rate between £420 and £570 (inside IR35).

What you’ll be doing

  • Specifying ESS requirements and defining technical artefacts, including considerations for in-service support and associated costs.
  • Assessing technical hazards and project impacts, contributing to risk mitigation strategies and their documentation.
  • Managing the design of systems, components, or processes that satisfy customer needs within agreed constraints of time, cost, and performance.
  • Overseeing the verification, validation, testing, and evaluation of ESS systems.
  • Providing expertise in PNT and GNSS technologies, advising on best practices, and supporting operational activities.

What we’re looking for

  • Held a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or above.
  • Broad experience in delivering electronic or mechatronic solutions, with a proven track record in successful project delivery and technical advice.
  • Professional registration as an IEng, RSci, RMarTech, Adv RITTech, or CPhys.
  • Experience related to PNT technologies and/or GNSS would be highly advantageous.
  • SC clearance is essential; DV clearance would be a strong asset.
