Safety Engineer - SC Cleared

We’re supporting a prestigious client based in Bristol who is seeking a Contract Safety Engineer with SC clearance to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex projects, supporting safety policies and delivering critical engineering outcomes.

Role Details

  • Location: Hybrid, Bristol Abbeywood (3-4 days onsite per week)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract Length: Until 31 March 2027
  • Day Rate: Up to £570 (inside IR35) per day

About the Role

This role sits within a dedicated Safety Skill Group, working towards supporting the delivery of Acquisition Safety policy and solutions. You will be involved in through-life safety risk management, ensuring the safety of equipment, systems, and services for frontline commands. Your expertise will support safety governance, assurance, and audit processes, contributing directly to highly regulated projects within Defence.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Generating technical safety requirements and documentation for subsystems, considering in-service support and costs
  • Assessing technical safety data to support project documentation and successful technical outcomes
  • Ensuring compliance with safety legislation, regulation, and standards, aligning safety, quality, security, and sustainability considerations
  • Contributing to technical risk management activities at project and programme levels
  • Supporting safety artefacts, safety cases, and system safety assurance activities
  • Collaborating with subsystems teams and specialists on technical safety requirements
  • Supporting verification, validation, and evaluation processes for system safety
  • Assisting with through-life safety decisions, system modifications, and disposals
  • Drafting safety recommendations aligned with your technical expertise

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in providing technical advice and delivering successful engineering outcomes
  • Knowledge of System Safety Policy, Governance, Management, and Assurance
  • Some experience working within a regulated environment, aligning with safety legislation and standards
  • A Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics based qualification at RQF Level 3 or equivalent
  • Alternatively, professional registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) or Registered Science Technician (RSciTech)
