TEAM DESCRIPTION
The Future Defence Support Solution (FDSS) Team are part of Joint UK StratCom – DE&S programme tasked to implement a complex, novel commodities supply chain management system for a significant portion of MOD commodities. Materiel in scope includes medical devices and pharmaceuticals, oils and fuels as well and comparatively simple commercial off the off-shelf products (e.g. clothing and electronic commodities). The selected Delivery Partners will manage all aspects of the supply chain including sourcing, procurement, inventory management, warehousing and distribution. The task will include management of stock, buildings and transportation (road, rail, sea and air) both domestically and internationally.
This tasking will cover activities bounded by the Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) and Invitation to Tender (ITT) phases. In addition to quality management activities, the Qualuty Manager will be required to assist in supporting MOD commercial arrangements and responding directly to industry Requests for Information (RFIs).
With an in-service date of 2028 the FDSS Programme will likely require continued specialist support beyond this financial year.
KEY TASKS
- Developing the Quality Management System framework to support the ITT activity. This will include development of MOD compliant process requirements based upon commercial supply chain activities.
- Responding to industry RFIs regarding quality management during the ITN phase.
- Reviewing and assessing supplier quality responses to the ITN question sets, scoring and evaluating to assist the commercial down selection.
- Developing detailed Quality Requirements for the ITT Systems Requirement Document.
EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
- Experienced in multi-domain DE&S quality management practices.
- Experience in requirements definition.
- Understanding of DE&S Commercial requirements.
- Experience of engaging with commercial, industry and regulators.
DESIRABLE
- Understanding of supply chain quality management, or a willingness to self-learn the subject matter.
- Experience of MOD requirements development.
OTHER INFORMATION
- The role is not suitable for an inexperienced candidate, nor is it a straightforward quality manager’s role. The candidate must be knowledgeable, adaptable and open to novel approaches to quality management. The FDSS Programme is complex and will require novel approaches to be assessed and developed.
- The role is suitable for hybrid working but will require regular attendance at ABW.
