Product Owner - DV cleared

Our client is currently recruiting for a DV cleared Product Owner for a high profile MOD programme. This is a contract role starting in October 2025 until the end of March 2026, with scope to be extended. The role is based in Bristol but a hybrid working arrangement is expected. The day rate is negotiable dependent upon experience.

PROJECT OUTLINE

Our client is supporting the authority in the standing up of capability centres.

The Battlespace Integration Centre (BIC) was set up under the Digital Exploitation for Defence (DX4D) programme, a high-profile programme initiated by the Defence Delivery Group and reporting into 2PUS. It has great interest at the most senior levels of Defence, and the team are routinely exposed to decision makers at the highest levels of MOD. The BIC form parts of the new System Integration area in the DE&S Operating Model and will provide services into both the DE&S Gateway and Core Delivery, as well as directly to Front Line Commands. Outputs from this contract will help achieve full Operating Capability.

As part of this contract, a Chief Product Owner (CPO) is required to oversee value is delivered to customers and outputs meet their needs.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

  • Define outcomes and product roadmap: Engage with stakeholders to create product outcomes and roadmap to track sprint goals against
  • Oversee product goals: track project milestones throughout each step to ensure team members meet deadlines and fulfil expectations and share these objectives with other key stakeholders
  • Effective backlog management:
    • Developing and explicitly communicating the Product Goal and Sprint Goals
    • Creating and clearly communicating Product Backlog Items
    • Help other team members understand backlog items, especially when they involve a customer's perspective on a product feature.
    • Ordering Product Backlog Items as per customer priorities
    • Ensuring that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible and understood
    • Decision maker on any changes to the Product Backlog
  • Accountable for product backlog being accomplished and for the value delivered.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders: Liaise with key stakeholders and ensure all individuals have access to the same information. Provide knowledge and experience as required in decision making processes.
  • Build trust and respect of stakeholders: Ensure clients trust their views and priorities are accurately represented at Scrum ceremonies
  • Learn customer preferences and needs: Regular engagement with stakeholders to capture needs and adding to and refining the product backlog as needed
  • Verify user stories: Confirm with stakeholders whether a team has accurately implemented them into a product’s features.
  • Represent the voice of the customer at key Scrum Ceremonies and adhoc meetings as required
  • Contribution to Monthly Progress Report in a timely manner.
