OVERVIEW
There are 2 teams involved – one is an in-service support team, as that is where the expertise is. They provided detailed technical support to the other team.
Role will involve a bit of BAU as well as providing technical support.
Their biggest contract is a CAT A within the Defence team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the development and implementation of the operational strategy for the project.
- Assist in ensuring alignment with Defence Lines of Development (DLODs) to meet operational requirements.
- Contribute to the preparation of the SOC, OBCs, FBCs, focusing on operational aspects.
- Support the development and refinement of User Requirements Documents (URDs) to reflect operational needs.
- Assist in translating operational requirements into technical specifications and deliverables.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including Front-Line Commands (FLCs), to ensure operational needs are met.
- Support the planning and execution of operational trials, testing, and evaluation activities.
- Monitor and report on the progress of operational deliverables and milestones.
- Assist in identifying and managing operational risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to the development of training plans for operational personnel.
- Support the development of transition plans for the capability into service.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with MOD policies, including JSPs and the Defence Acquisition Framework (DAF).
- Help ensure the capability meets safety, environmental, and security standards for operational use.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of operational requirements and deliverables.
- Support the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure operational effectiveness.
- Assist in stakeholder engagement activities, including organising meetings and workshops.
- Provide input into the procurement strategy to ensure operational requirements are addressed.
- Support the integration of the capability into the wider defence environment, ensuring interoperability.
- Contribute to the capture and documentation of lessons learned during the acquisition phase.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for operational planning and decision-making activities.
SKILLS & QUAIFICATIONS
Evidence of the following experience is required:
- Experienced Operations Manager.
- Additional Information This Operations manager will be renewing elements and overseeing project plans
- Part of the role will be looking after live firing of the weapons in UK, USA and artic.
- They will be looking at logistic support as in the artic they have to organise on polar bear training and in Bahamas navigating the mangrove swamps.
- They have to get kit, logistics across to those destinations.
- Would suit someone who has managed complex operations.
- Previous experience in co-ordination and logistics which needs to be at a high level i.e. cargo, freight.
- When not working/ or awaiting work they could be given other work to do across the other operations manager role under 106058.
- Needs to be able to manage without supervision.
- Most of the time will be working remotely but will need to come to Abbeywood when required. This might be 3 days one week and then nothing for a couple of weeks, and attend any workshops which are Face to Face.
