One Way Effector Safety Manager - SC cleared

Evodia Limited is partnering with a key client to find a highly skilled One Way Effector Safety Manager to join their team in Bristol, with the flexibility of hybrid working. This is a crucial role supporting urgent capability delivery until 30/10/2026, with potential for extension. The position offers a day rate of £420 to £570 (inside IR35), and requires SC security clearance.

About the Role

Working closely with the OBI Lead & Chief Engineer, your main responsibility will be to develop and execute the Safety Management System essential for the delivery of innovative weapon capabilities. You’ll be pivotal in ensuring safety and environmental compliance throughout all project phases, from development to testing. In this role, you will:

  • Develop and implement the Safety & Environmental Management Plan, ensuring alignment with weapon system safety standards.
  • Lead the delivery and endorsement of safety processes, artefacts, and technical data provided by suppliers.
  • Advise senior stakeholders including the Chief Technical Officer and Safety Responsible on safety matters.
  • Coordinate with a broad range of stakeholders, including Airworthiness authorities and test ranges, ensuring test activities are safe and compliant.
  • Identify hazards, develop safety artefacts, and provide assurance on safety testing across UK and potentially overseas ranges.
  • Manage safety aspects for test asset supplier relationships, including both initial testing and full-rate production phases.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience with Defence safety standards such as Def Stan 00-056 and ASEMS.
  • Qualified System Safety Practitioner with a solid background in OME safety management for weapon systems development.
  • Proven experience managing complex weapons programmes, including development and testing.
  • Familiarity with OSRP processes and working with multidisciplinary teams for OME testing.
  • SC security clearance (minimum requirement).

Desirable:

  • Experience executing safety from project initiation and assurance qualifications in OME.
  • Expertise in developing innovative delivery strategies and managing suppliers through all production stages.
  • Knowledge of equipment selection and demonstration processes.

Location & Working Pattern

Based in Bristol, this role requires onsite attendance two days each week, with travel across the UK, and possibly overseas, depending on project needs. The role supports hybrid working, providing a flexible environment tailored to your expertise.
