One Way Effector (OWE) Chief Engineer

Evodia Limited is working alongside a leading defence organisation to find a highly skilled SC cleared One Way Effector (OWE) Chief Engineer for an exciting project based in Bristol. If you have a background in managing complex weapons development, with a focus on innovative delivery and regulation compliance, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

This pivotal position reports directly to the Chief Technical Officer and works closely with the OBI Lead. You'll be responsible for shaping the engineering strategy for a One Way Effector Programme, ensuring seamless integration and delivery of multiple projects. Your expertise will guide the development, test, and evaluation phases, with a focus on regulatory alignment and safety assurance.

Location & Working Arrangements

  • Based in Bristol, with a hybrid working model (2 days onsite per week)
  • UK travel required; overseas travel may also be involved
  • Immediate start available; until 31 March 2026 with potential for long term extension

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an effective engineering strategy for the OWE programme
  • Support project planning, including test and evaluation programmes
  • Engage with regulators and Subject Matter Experts to shape regulation pathways
  • Oversee supplier testing, ensuring safety and compliance in accordance with aviation and defence standards
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, including airworthiness authorities and project teams
  • Lead hazard identification and develop safety artefacts to support testing activities

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven experience managing development and integration of novel weapons systems
  • Strong background in complex weapons programmes and testing
  • Familiarity with DOSR and/or MAA regulations, working effectively with regulators
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, including external engineering support

Desirable:

  • Qualifications or experience in OME assurance
  • Innovative approach to project delivery
  • Successful history of supplier management through demonstration and production phases
