Role Overview
As an OME Engineer, you will play a vital role in managing and advising on acquisition activities related to complex weapons, munitions, and pyrotechnics within the maritime sector. The position includes generating technical requirements, overseeing the technical quality of engineering documentation, and ensuring successful delivery of technical outcomes. Your expertise will support compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and policies, such as DSA02, and involve managing testing, verification, validation, and assurance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop technical requirements and documentation for OME systems, considering lifecycle support and cost implications.
- Act as a technical authority, compiling and reviewing engineering data and documentation — ensuring high standards.
- Apply legislation, regulations, and standards, contributing to updates and improvements as needed.
- Identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are documented and managed.
- Lead the design process to meet customer needs within time, cost, and performance constraints, actively influencing design reviews and trade-offs.
- Manage testing, verification, and validation processes, ensuring system certification compliance, particularly with Def Stan 05-57.
- Oversee system support, modifications, disposals, and decommissioning activities, including audits and assurance reviews.
About You
- Hold a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher.
- Proven experience providing technical advice and successfully delivering OME engineering outcomes.
- Professional registration with bodies such as EngTech, IEng, CEng, RSciTech, RSci, CSci, RMarTech, or CPhys.
- Previous experience in the maritime domain is highly desirable.
What We Offer
- Rate of up to £420 per day (inside IR35)
- Initial contract until 31 March 2026, with the possibility of extension
- Hybrid working arrangement, three days per week onsite in Bristol
