Evodia Limited is collaborating with a forward-thinking client to find a dedicated Materials Manufacturing Standards SME to support a critical tri-lateral defence project.

About the Role

This challenging position is based in Bristol, offering the flexibility of hybrid working (3 days onsite per week). The contract runs from 1 August 2026 to 31 March 2027, with potential for extension. The role involves providing specialist advice on materials manufacturing standards, especially related to ferrous metals, with an emphasis on heavy plate production methods such as ingot and concast processes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the UK’s AUKUS programme by advising on materials manufacturing standards critical to the development of nuclear-powered submarines.
  • Engaging with international collaboration by working out of hours, given the multi-national programme scope.
  • Attending the Bristol site at least three days per week to ensure close collaboration with the team.
  • Participating in the review and assurance of materials against project standards and standards compliance, including audits.
  • Assisting with experimental test plans and review processes tied to materials performance and standards assurance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Solid background as a materials or manufacturing engineer with expertise in ferrous metals.
  • Knowledge of heavy plate production methods in any industry, ingot and concast experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience with quality assurance, audits and ensuring compliance with material specifications and standards.
  • Proven ability to review and develop experimental test plans and support manufacturing processes.
  • SC clearance minimum.

  • Day rate: £570 to £770 per day (Inside IR35)
