Maritime Combat Systems Engineer - SC cleared

Are you a skilled Systems Engineer with a background in Electronic Warfare and maritime combat systems? We have an exciting opportunity working with a leading defence client based at MOD Abbeywood, Bristol. This role is ideal for professionals who are experienced in EW capabilities, integration of complex systems, and have previous engagement with Royal Navy or maritime environments. As a key member of the team, you'll be responsible for the integration and installation of advanced maritime combat systems, managing land site activities, and promoting open systems standards. Your expertise will support the ongoing development of naval electronic warfare capabilities, ensuring seamless integration with modern naval platforms.

What you’ll be doing

  • Oversee land site activities for the installation and integration of new equipment, ensuring compliance with processes and standards.
  • Engage with relevant authorities to gather essential information and manage the 5-stage change process, including ECR submissions and revisions.
  • Handle SRD changes, concessions, and acceptance activities relating to land sites, with a focus on ensuring system integrity and operational readiness.
  • Participate actively within the MEWP Design Authority, promoting Open Systems standards.
  • Support systems integration activities across maritime combat systems networks, particularly within a naval context.

What we’re looking for

Essential skills and experience

  • Proven systems engineering background in electronic warfare and combat systems, including radar, weapons, communication, and countermeasures.
  • Experience with maritime combat systems networks and their integration in complex naval environments.
  • Hands-on experience with RN ships, alterations & additions, and CIAP processes, especially at PTP stages.
  • Active UK SC security clearance and sole UK National status.

Desirable qualifications

  • Recent EW operational knowledge, ideally gained within a Royal Navy or maritime setting.
  • Experience in trial planning and equipment acceptance for naval electronic warfare systems.

Additional details

  • Location: Bristol – onsite one day per fortnight, with flexible remote working for other days.
  • Contract Duration: ASAP until 31/12/2027
  • Day Rate: Up to £600 per day (Inside IR35)
  • Security Clearance: SC minimum, UK sole national required
