OVERVIEW
The Role requires a Lift and Lifting subject matter expert to provide a single competent authority accountable for lifting assurance and help to standardise lifting governance across sites.
Location: Five days on site expected - this role will require the holder to work outside and in areas where H&S will be observed
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide a single competent authority accountable for lifting assurance
- Standardise lifting governance across sites
- Ensure alignment with Safe to Start and regulatory obligations
- Train and develop a designated staff member to AP competency level to enable long-term Internal resilience and continuity
- Provide professional advice and guidance for lifting.
- Develop, implement and maintain Client organisation Lifting Policy, process and related forms and documentation.
- Prepare, review, and approve lifting plans and associated documentation.
- Supervise and oversee complex lifts on site when required.
- Review contract lift safety documentation and lift plans prior to execution.
- Attend and contribute to topic-specific meetings, reviews, and working groups.
Essential Skills
Essential Skills
- Proven experience managing lifting operations, including planning and supervising complex lifts.
- In-depth knowledge of lifting legislation, regulations, and safety standards.
- Strong understanding of contract lift documentation and assurance processes.
- Familiarity with asset management practices, including CAFM systems.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to analyse and review technical documentation.
- Demonstrable experience in assurance activities (L1, 2 & 3).
- Authorised Person – needs to be experience as will be main POC for length of contract.
Desirable Skills
- Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., Lifting Equipment Engineers Association – LEEA).
- Training/qualification as Appointed Person (Lifting Operations).
- Previous experience in Defence or high-security environments.
