Land Systems Safety Engineer - SC cleared

Evodia is partnering with a leading Defence client to find an experienced Land Systems Safety Engineer to support their critical projects based at MOD Abbeywood, Bristol. This role offers the flexibility of hybrid working, requiring a minimum of three days onsite per week.

What you’ll do

  • Support the development and maintenance of robust Safety Management Systems in line with DE&S standards, ensuring safety policies are effectively implemented across projects.
  • Identify hazards, conduct risk analyses, and contribute to risk reduction strategies. Documenting and managing safety artefacts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance with UK, EU, MOD, and DE&S safety legislation and policies.
  • Develop and oversee safety assurance plans, monitor compliance, and gather evidence for safety case submissions.
  • Produce, review, and endorse safety artefacts, providing expert safety advice to key decision-makers through Project Safety Panels.
  • Manage contractual safety requirements and oversee contractors’ safety activities, ensuring alignment with project safety objectives.

What we’re looking for

  • Chartered CEng or IEng, or demonstrated equivalent professional competence through your experience and knowledge.
  • Proven practitioner status in System Safety practices, with substantial experience in developing and managing Safety Management Systems.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with ASEMS and other System Safety Management Tools & Processes.
  • Experience in delivering safety assurance and safety case documents within Defence or Military environments.
  • Knowledge gained through recognised DE&S System Safety courses with benchmarked examinations.
  • SC Security Clearance is essential for this role.

Key Details

  • Location: Bristol (Hybrid working – 3 days onsite per week)
  • Duration: Until 31 March 2027, with an ASAP start preferred
  • Day Rate: Up to £600 (ex VAT), Inside IR35
  • Working hours: 7.5 hours per day
