Are you a SC cleared Safety Engineer with a strong background in Defence and MOD acquisition safety? We’re partnering with a leading client to find an experienced Land Systems Safety Engineer to support vital projects in Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to UK military land vehicle systems, with flexibility for hybrid work—2 to 3 days onsite at MOD Abbeywood.
Role Overview
This contract role runs until 31 March 2027, offering a day rate of up to £600 (ex VAT). You’ll play a key part in ensuring that safety policies and systems align with Defence standards, supporting your team to develop and maintain safety management systems across critical land systems and military vehicles.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support the development and ongoing enhancement of Acquisition Safety policies and processes, aligned with DE&S standards
- Develop, manage, and maintain effective Safety Management Systems, identifying hazards and assessing risks to support safe system delivery
- Provide expert safety advice during decision-making processes, including safety case development and review
- Work collaboratively across teams and with contractors to ensure safety activities and requirements are adequately captured, documented, and managed
- Monitor compliance with UK, EU, MOD, and DE&S safety legislation and policies
What We’re Looking For
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or equivalent professional status
- Proven Practitioner in System Safety, with extensive experience employing ASEMS and Safety Management Tools
- Strong knowledge of Defence safety standards and regulations, including recognised DE&S System Safety courses
- Experience in developing and maintaining Safety Management Systems for land systems or military vehicles
- Ability to deliver and oversee safety assurance activities, including hazard analysis, safety cases, and artefact reviews
- SC security clearance required for the role
