Land Systems Safety Engineer - SC cleared

Are you an Engineer with a keen eye for detail and a passion for land systems? Our client, a leading organisation in the defence sector, is seeking a Contract Land Systems Safety Engineer to join their team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your skills in a vital role supporting safety across complex military projects, with the flexibility of hybrid working — just 2 to 3 days onsite each week.

Role Overview

As a key player supporting the delivery of acquisition safety policy, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and suitability of systems used by front line commands. Your work will involve managing safety risks throughout the lifecycle of projects, from design to decommissioning, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Generating and maintaining technical safety requirements and documentation for sub-systems, considering in-service support and costs.
  • Collating and evaluating technical safety data to support project milestones and ensure successful technical outcomes.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety legislation, regulation, and standards, with close attention to quality, security, and sustainability.
  • Contributing to technical risk management activities at both project and programme levels.
  • Supporting the creation, review, and update of safety artefacts and safety cases for various equipment types.
  • Collaborating with subsystem teams and specialists to manage safety requirements effectively.
  • Assisting with verification, validation, testing, and evaluation activities related to system safety.
  • Supporting safety decisions for through-life support and modifications to operational systems.
  • Contributing to technical assurance processes and supporting the safe disposal or decommissioning of equipment.

What We’re Looking For

  • A STEM qualification at RQF Level 3 or above.
  • Proven experience in providing technical safety advice and delivering successful engineering outcomes.
  • Some familiarity with Land Systems is highly desirable.
  • Ability to operate in a highly regulated environment, navigating safety legislation and standards.
  • Working towards or holding a professional registration such as EngTech or RSciTech is preferred.

Additional Details

This contract is initially set until 30 June 2026, with scope for extension, offering a day rate of up to £420 (inside IR35). For the purpose of this advert Evodia is acting as an employment business.
