Are you a Safety Engineer with a background in Land systems and hold SC clearance? Our client, a prominent organisation in the defence sector, is seeking a Contract Land Safety Engineer to join their team in Bristol, offering a flexible hybrid working arrangement. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your technical expertise within a highly regulated environment, supporting critical safety systems and acquisition programmes. The role is initially until June 2026, with the potential to extend, and offers a day rate of £350 to £420 (ex VAT).
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing expert safety advice and guidance on acquisition safety policies and solutions for equipment in the land domain.
- Managing the development of technical safety requirements, including safety-related system architectures to high integrity levels.
- Supporting the generation of safety documentation and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policy, and standards.
- Conducting hazard analysis, risk assessment, and contributing to risk reduction initiatives.
- Overseeing design processes to meet customer safety requirements within project constraints.
- Managing safety aspects of sub-systems, including safety assurance, verification, validation, and evaluation.
- Leading contractual safety activities and managing contractors fulfilling safety-related roles.
- Supporting decommissioning activities and ensuring policies align with corporate standards.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in delivering safety systems, safety acquisition, or related engineering outcomes within the land domain.
- Technical advice expertise in safety systems and safety risks across various contexts.
- Qualifications such as RQF Level 6 in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics, or Level 4 with current professional registration, or Level 3 with extensive experience.
- Professional registration such as EngTech or RSciTech is desirable.
- Prior land domain experience would be advantageous.
