Floating Dock Safety Manager - SC cleared

Are you an experienced safety professional with a background in maritime platforms? Do you hold SC clearance and thrive in challenging environments? Our client, a leading Defence company, is seeking a Floating Dock Safety Manager, on a contract basis, to join their team in Bristol, with options for hybrid working and some travel to Clyde.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a programme focused on delivering a resilient Out of Water Engineering Capability for the submarine fleet. You'll play a key part in ensuring the safety and environmental integrity of floating docks critical to submarine docking activities.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing and maintaining effective Safety Management Systems for the floating dock and related programme activities.
  • Supporting the delivery of Safety & Environmental Case assessments alongside the programme team and safety lead.
  • Ensuring all safety policies align with MOD standards and meet the requirements of the Facility Safety Case.
  • Traveling approximately twice a month to Clyde for project coordination and site oversight.

Who you are

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience in implementing system safety policies, especially within maritime or defence environments.
  • Experience with system safety management tools and processes.
  • Awareness of MOD’s Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
  • SC clearance is essential, and familiarity with MOD safety training such as SEMT and NIC is desirable.
  • Experience working on maritime platforms and knowledge of safety case development will be advantageous.
  • Membership of a recognised professional safety institute or equivalent is a plus.

Additional Information

This is a full-time contract starting ASAP and running until 30 November 2026, with potential for extension. The day rate ranges from £420 to £570 (ex VAT), inside IR35.
