Electronic Systems & Sensors Engineer (Space Projects) - SC cleared

Are you an experienced Electronic or Mechatronic Engineer with a passion for space technologies? Our client, a leading organisation in the space sector, is seeking a Contract Electronic Systems & Sensors Engineer (SC cleared) to join their Bristol-based team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-profile space projects, with the flexibility of hybrid working (2 to 3 days onsite each week).

Role Overview

Reporting into a Level 4 Chief Engineer, you'll be instrumental in delivering a range of space-related initiatives, including operational activities. Your expertise will be vital in owning the generation of requirements for Electronic Systems & Sensors (ESS), overseeing the full lifecycle from design to verification, validation, and evaluation.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the requirements definition for ESS, ensuring technical deliverables are clear and risk assessments are thoroughly documented.
  • Identify and evaluate technical hazards and project impacts, contributing to risk reduction strategies.
  • Manage the design of systems, components, or processes that meet customer needs within budget, time, and performance constraints.
  • Oversee testing, verification, and validation processes for ESS solutions, ensuring high standards and compliance.

What We're Looking For

  • A Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher.
  • Extensive experience in delivering successful electronic or mechatronic outcomes, with a proven track record of providing technical advice and leading projects.
  • Professional registration as either an IEng, RSci, RMarTech, Adv RITTech, CPhys, or CEng.
  • SC clearance is a must, given the sensitive nature of the projects.
  • Desirable: experience within space technologies and working in fast-paced delivery environments.

Details

  • Location: Bristol, with 2 to 3 days onsite per week and some travel between sites.
  • Start Date: ASAP, until 30 September 2026, with potential to extend.
  • Day Rate: £420 to £570 (inside IR35).
  • Standard hours: 7.5 hours per day.
