Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer with SC clearance and a background in Power and Distribution? If you thrive in dynamic, highly regulated environments and are eager to contribute to critical projects within the defence and maritime sectors, this could be the opportunity for you. Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join their team in Bristol, offering a flexible hybrid working arrangement, on-site three days a week with the option to work remotely. This is an excellent chance to work on vital systems that support naval infrastructure, making a tangible difference in security and defence.
Due to the tight timescales involved, successful candidates are required to already hold a valid SC security clearance.
What’s involved?
You will be supporting key elements of Electrical Power and Distribution (EPD) in both acquisition and in-service phases. Your expertise will help influence, verify, and audit electrical systems ranging from high voltage (HV) propulsion systems in warships to low voltage control and instrumentation. Your tasks will include:
- Managing EPD requirements, defining technical deliverables, and updating documentation for various sub-systems.
- Providing technical advice on electrical power and distribution solutions, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, and standards related to safety, security, and sustainability.
- Assessing and managing risks associated with safety, environment, and financial considerations.
- Designing and supporting the modification of operational sub-systems within cost, time, and performance constraints.
- Collaborating across teams to optimise system integration and support successful delivery.
- Participating in testing, verification, validation, and evaluation processes for electrical sub-systems.
- Supporting equipment disposal and decommissioning activities as needed.
What are we looking for?
Successful candidates will have:
- An HV/LV electrical background with proven experience in Power and/or Distribution engineering across diverse contexts.
- A relevant Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher.
- Experience in providing technical advice and delivering successful outcomes in electrical power/distribution projects.
- Professional registration with a recognised body (such as EngTech or MarEngTech) is preferred, or alternatively, a minimum RQF Level 6 qualification.
- Willingness to learn quickly and adapt, ideally with some maritime sector exposure, though not essential.
