We are seeking a Dockside Safety Engineer with SC clearance to join our client’s team in Plymouth, Devon. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety-focused engineering professional with a solid background in Ship Construction and maritime regulations. The role offers a hybrid working model, with 2 to 3 days per week onsite, making it flexible to balance work and location considerations.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Dockside Safety Engineer, you'll be on the frontline, visiting ships within the dockyard to assess structural integrity and facilitate necessary repairs. This involves working closely with the Waterfront Service Provider and Lloyds Register Surveyors to ensure safety standards are upheld throughout all activities. You'll need to be comfortable accessing tight spaces such as fuel, oil, and water tanks, often requiring scaffolding and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
What You Will Need
- Expertise across various engineering disciplines to be able to evaluate structural defects and devising safe, cost-effective repair solutions.
- A strong understanding of relevant regulation, legislation, certification processes, Class Society Rules, and engineering protocols in the maritime environment
This is a contract position running until 30 September 2026, with potential for extension, paying between £420 and £570 per day (inside IR35).
