SUMMARY
Unique opportunity to take on a technical superintendent role in the maritime sector.
The Technical Superintendent role is streamed Mechanical Engineer, but requires an individual with a strong understanding of Ship Construction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The individual will spend a significant proportion of work time visiting ships within the dockyard (both in fleet time and upkeep) to review structural defects and repair solutions.
- Some repairs will require access to ships tanks (fuel, oil, water, etc), some of which are constrained in size, and accessing elements of the structure via scaffolding.
- A requirement to use sound engineering judgement at the waterfront to progress work pragmatically, ensuring that costs and schedule growth are controlled whilst safety is maintained.
- The role works closely with the Waterfront Service Provider and Lloyds Register Surveyors.
EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
- This requires experience across a breadth of engineering disciplines.
- Understanding of regulation, legislation, certification, Class Society Rules and engineering processes, for the Maritime Environment is essential.
