About the Role
We are supporting our client in appointing a Counter UAS Engineering Lead. This role offers an engaging mix of onsite and remote working, with 2 to 3 days a week based in Bristol. There’s also a requirement for travel to UK sites and potentially overseas.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Defining and managing technical requirements for Counter UAS systems, ensuring that tests, trials, and experimentation are conducted safely and efficiently.
- Developing an engineering roadmap for future phases, including comprehensive Management Plans.
- Providing assurance on technical data supplied by external partners and advising senior technical stakeholders on safety and airworthiness compliance.
- Leading integration efforts across multiple stakeholders, including regulators and defence establishments, ensuring compliance with relevant aviation standards.
- Analysing technical hazards, supporting safety artefacts development, and ensuring conformity with local safety processes and regulations.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience
- Familiarity with aviation regulation(s), and practical experience working with regulators such as the CAA or MAA.
- Proven track record managing test, trials, and experimentation programmes, particularly within defence or aerospace sectors.
- Experience overseeing the development and integration of novel or unmanned systems, especially in a complex engineering environment.
Desirable Attributes
- Background in uncrewed air systems or drones, with understanding of their development and testing processes.
- Knowledge of DOSR and other defence-specific standards.
- Experience within the Royal Navy or broader defence sector, offering valuable insights into military operations and safety protocols.
Contract Details
Starting as soon as possible, this contract runs until 31st March 2027, with potential to extend. The rate is competitive, up to £570 per day (inside IR35).
