Evodia Limited is partnering with a leading client to find a Contract Senior Safety Engineer for the renowned Ajax Programme. If you hold SC clearance and are professionally registered as an IEng, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
About the Role
This position offers a dynamic blend of on-site and remote working, based in Bristol with key visits to Merthyr Tydfil. You'll play a vital role supporting safety assurance activities across the Land Combat Vehicles portfolio, ensuring safety compliance during crucial Demonstration and Production phases.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing safety-related concessions, assessing and coordinating approval processes
- Supporting design modifications by reviewing safety implications and providing engineering input
- Acting as deputy to the Concessions Engineer, maintaining seamless safety process management
- Supporting demonstration activities through safety documentation, review, and compliance assurance
- Liaising with engineering and project teams to resolve safety issues swiftly
- Contributing to safety audits, reviews, and reporting to meet all regulatory standards
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading safety systems within the defence or aerospace sectors, particularly in vehicle or land systems projects. You will need:
- Professional registration as an IEng or equivalent
- Experience providing technical safety advice and managing safety activities in complex engineering environments
- SC security clearance (or higher)
- Strong understanding of safety standards, risk management, and compliance measures
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and documentation skills
Desirable but not essential are safety qualifications and experience within GMPP/CAT A programmes or Engineering Production environments.
Details & Benefits
- Contract type: Inside IR35
- Duration: until 31 March 2027, scope for extension
- Day rate: £420 to £570 (ex VAT), depending on experience
- Location: Bristol (hybrid: 1-2 days per week onsite, with remote working options)
- Working hours: 7.5 hours per day
