AJAX Safety Engineer – In-Service Pillar

ROLE OVERVIEW

The AJAX Programme sits within the National Armaments Director Group (NAD). It is delivered on behalf of DG Material (3*), under the purview of Director Land Environment (2*), and delivered as part of the Land Combat Vehicles Portfolio (1*).

The AJAX team comprises of several pillars, each one representing a stage in the project lifecycle. This role sits within the In-service Pillar. This is responsible for all engineering and support activity of the in-service fleet.

The role is to provide safety engineering support to support the Pillar lead in managing Demonstration activities. The role will ensure that safety processes and compliance is followed, and that key documentation is produced to enable Demonstration program delivery.

KEY TASKS

  • Manage and coordinate safety-related activity - Production of In-service Safety documentation on behalf of the Senior Safety Responsible.
  • Collaborate with safety function - Ensure Demonstration activity aligns with overall safety policies and risk management strategies.
  • Support In-service Safety Engineering activities - Review safety implications and provide engineering input to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Liaise with engineering and project teams - Facilitate timely resolution of safety issues related activity and impact of design change.
  • Maintain accurate records - Keep records of concessions, safety assessments, and approvals up to date.
  • Assist in development and implementation of safety procedures - Support creation and application of safety procedures and best practices related to In-service activity.
  • Contribute to safety audits, reviews, and reporting - Participate as necessary in audits, reviews, and safety reporting.
  • Ensure compliance - Adhere to relevant safety regulations, standards, and organisational policies.

EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

  • As a minimum be professionally registered as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
  • Proven experience in providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful safety systems.

DESIRABLE

  • A formal safety qualification and/or training.
  • Experience within an Engineering In-service Environment is desirable, but not essential.
  • Experience managing engineering safety activity within a Defence Major Program (GMPP/CAT A) is desirable.
