Position Details
- Location: Bristol (Hybrid working — 2 to 3 days onsite per week)
- Contract Duration: Until 30 June 2026, with potential to extend
- Day Rate: Up to £420 (inside IR35)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Working Hours: 7.5 hours per day
About the Role
In this role, you will support the delivery of acquisition safety policies and contribute to the successful delivery of engineering outcomes within the air systems domain. Your expertise will ensure the safe, sustainable, and compliant operation of complex systems, aligning with safety legislation, standards, and organisational policies. Working collaboratively with subsystems teams, you will help develop safety documentation, support risk management activities, and contribute to system verification processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support technical safety requirements and documentation for sub-systems, considering in-service support and associated costs
- Identify, evaluate, and collate technical safety data, ensuring robust project documentation
- Navigate and ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation, policies, and standards—particularly in quality, security, and sustainability
- Participate in technical risk management activities at programme level
- Support safety artefacts, safety cases, and review processes for equipment types
- Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and specialists on safety requirements
- Assist with verification, validation, and evaluation activities in system safety
- Contribute to decisions concerning through-life support and system modifications
- Support assurance activities within your technical discipline and assist with disposal and decommissioning processes
- Draft technical recommendations and support safety-related decision-making
Candidate Profile
- Holding a STEM-based qualification at RQF Level 3 or higher
- Experience providing technical advice and delivering successful engineering outcomes within the Air domain.
- Well-versed in safety legislation, policy, and standards relevant to aerospace or defence sectors
- Working towards a professional registration such as EngTech or RSciTech through a recognised professional body or institution
- SC clearance is essential;
