Agile & Software Delivery Assurance Consultant - Outside IR35 - SC cleared

Are you an experienced Agile professional with a background in software delivery within complex, traditionally waterfall-driven programmes? Do you hold SC clearance and enjoy working in environments that challenge your expertise? We’re looking for a Agile & Software Delivery Assurance Consultant to join a high-profile project within a Defence-focused organisation. This role, based in Dorchester with the flexibility of hybrid working, involves a 9-week engagement – roughly 40 days of consulting. You'll be assessing and improving software delivery practices, helping ensure delivery excellence across a critical equipment programme.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Conducting comprehensive software delivery reviews – analysing current development processes, governance, tools (especially JIRA), and stakeholder interactions.
  • Evaluating agile methods in practice – identifying what’s working well and where challenges lie, especially within complex engineering environments.
  • Providing pragmatic, actionable recommendations – balancing agile techniques with the realities of waterfall processes, aiming to optimise hybrid delivery models.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders – working closely with technical teams, programme leaders, and subject matter experts to understand operational constraints.
  • Producing clear, evidence-based reports – summarising findings and tailoring presentations for both technical and executive audiences.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in Agile and Software Delivery – particularly as a Product Owner, Delivery Lead, or Agile Consultant within complex programmes.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and release management – with a track record of end-to-end software project delivery.
  • Experience in large-scale or defence sectors – understanding the integration of software into traditionally waterfall-driven environments.
  • Leadership in software projects – working effectively across technical teams and stakeholders, capturing requirements and driving delivery.
  • Analytical mindset and advisory skills – capable of critically assessing current practices and recommending practical improvements.
  • SC clearance is essential – candidates must hold the relevant security clearance prior to joining.

What’s in it for you?

This is a contract role offering between £500 and £550 per day (outside IR35), providing a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a high-profile defence project. You’ll work in a collaborative environment, supported by industry experts, with a focus on delivering tangible improvements to software delivery processes. If you’re ready to leverage your Agile expertise in a challenging, impactful assignment, we’d like to hear from you.
