Evodia provides input into a wide range of defence research activities in the UK and overseas. Within the UK our client base comprises DLO, DPA, DSTL, RAO and a number of other government research organisations and defence prime contractors.
The nature of our work is diverse, ranging from the development of new techniques for modelling and simulation to the assessment and design of specialist military and test equipment.
Technology Assessment
Since 1998 Evodia has carried out a number of successful scientific and technical studies including:
- Concept and Assessment Studies (up to 15 consultants) for new complex systems, contracted within large study teams led by multinationals
- Technical Options Studies Appraisals for the UK MOD and other clients of the various technical options open to them, including costs, benefits, risks and timescales for command and control systems
- Development of IT and Communications Strategy Studies including studies for defence, the NHS and private industry
Defence Studies
Evodia consultants have carried out extensive studies for our defence clients over many years. Subjects have varied widely from technical and environmental issues to matters of high level strategy and business development. Our defence studies clients have included MOD, DPA, Dstl and other agencies, QinetiQ and a variety of commercial companies in the UK and overseas.
Our approach of assembling custom-built study teams, working under our ISO 9001 accredited project management and business management system, ensures the right mix of specialist knowledge, experience and availability. Many of our consultants have formal qualifications up to Doctorate or Chartered Engineer level and all have extensive relevant experience.
Feasibility and Pre-Feasibility Studies
Among Evodia’s specialist consultants there are many with operational and engineering experience from the armed services and defence industry. These experts are ideally placed to investigate the impact of future technology on existing and future systems.
Many of the existing systems currently in service within both NATO and the UK date from the 1970's and now require improvements. The authorities need to be fully aware of the feasibility of incorporating the latest technological strategy and practice into new systems and this involves Feasibility and Pre-Feasibility Study work within the Concept Phase of CADMID lifecycle.
Modelling and Research Strategy Development
Much defence research work in recent times has involved modelling using a variety of techniques and systems. This trend is increasing as resources for defence are stretched, creating a greater need to test theories and options to achieve wise investment decisions as rapidly as possible. Furthermore, the costs of military deployments, shortages of trained manpower and the reduction in available land for peacetime manoeuvres mean that more must be achieved through modelling and simulation and less through practical exercises. As a result, defence organisations in both the public sector and defence industry include major modelling programmes within their research and development strategies.
Evodia consultants bring experience of the "real thing" to such clients as well as expertise in modelling and simulation, thereby helping them to set meaningful goals and realistic scenarios, based on the realities of military operations.
